The Nile – Sepp Puchinger feat. Mamadou and Andy Chow
Wiener Turm
About the event
A passionate globetrotter, a gifted percussionist, and a "colourful character" on the saxophone in a triple pack – available for the first time and exclusively in January at the Stadttheater!
Over 6,000 km through Africa – the myth of the Nile has always been a source of fascination. This musical travel adventure leads from the gorillas in the mist, the jungle and glacier world of the 5,000 m high Ruwenzori mountains and Lake Victoria to the source of the Blue Nile in the Ethiopian highlands with its spectacular mountain landscapes and extraordinary diversity of peoples and cultures, as well as into the deserts of Sudan and the fascinating Nile land of Egypt.
Sepp Puchinger travelled on foot, by camel, by kayak and in Egypt by felucca, just as often using local buses and trains to capture moods. He weaves a rich tapestry of images concerning the history of discovery, foreign peoples, incredible festivals and millennia-old cultures. And he tells of adventurous canoe trips and wild encounters with crocodiles on the river of the gods.
Puchinger is musically accompanied during his travel lecture by the well-known and popular local heroes Mamadou (drums) and Andreas Bankhofer aka Andy Chow (saxophone). Come along, marvel, dream!
